The Review: Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation

So after many years of reading blog posts and seeing the celeb MUA's rave about it, I thought it was about time to try out the famous Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation!

Now, at a hefty price tag of £37, I definitely had high expectations for this product. I was also very brave in that I actually purchased this foundation online and I purely guessed my shade, which I was quite nervous about. However, it turns out I picked the perfect shade match for my skin. I opted for shade 3...Under all the fake tan I wear I am really a Mac NC15, in fact that is actually sometimes too dark for me! So shade 3 was perfect for me and I would recommend it to anyone who has porcelain/very pale skin. I have a lot of redness on my face without make up and with this foundation being more of a yellow base rather than pink (my personal preference), I find that it really counteracts the redness and evens out the skin tone.

It is worth noting that a little of this product goes a long way.  I would say this is a medium coverage that can definitely be build up to a high coverage. It is quite a watery foundation (the formula is oil free) but blends really well. I apply it with a damp Beauty Blender and find that this really does the job.
As somebody who avoids shine on my face at all costs, I was initially a little weary of the fact that the Foundation is described to give you a healthy glow, which to me can mean either of two things - radiant glowing skin or shiny/sweaty looking! Luckily this Foundation just gives you the lovely healthy looking glow without making your face look overly shiny. My skin is combination so in some areas it is dry but around my nose it can get oily. I also don't have perfect skin, I get blemishes and this Foundation just works perfectly for me. I even had to wear it to the gym the other day, as I go straight from work and it even passed the test, it just stayed put and didn't separate at all. This Foundation is great because it has great longevity without compromising on the glow - a lot of heavy duty Foundations have tendency to be very Matte in formula and can therefore look a little flat on the face but I don't feel like this product does at all. I would say the finish of this Foundation is Demi-Matte - it is Matte but also brings a healthy glow to the skin. What I love about this product also is that, although it is quite high coverage, it doesn't feel heavy on your face at all and it actually looks like your skin. It's got that 'my skin but better' thing going on! It looks so natural and a little product goes a long way for sure!

To be honest I haven't really got anything bad to say about this Foundation - it is definitely worth it's weight in gold in my opinion, although I do realize £37 is a lot to spend on make up! My only pet hate would be that if you touch your face by accident it can knock the Foundation out of place if that makes sense? Moral of the story, don't touch your face whilst wearing this Foundation!

I hope you found this useful and would love to know of any high street dupes for this :)

  1. Great review! £37 is so expensive, but I think when you find a good foundation it can be worth it! I like the sound of this except the not being able to touch your face is a deal breaker for me x
